Women's Lacrosse Falls to Swarthmore, 13-3

CLEARWATER, Mass. – The Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team posted a 13-3 victory over Bridgewater State University on Tuesday afternoon at the Countryside Sports Complex in Clearwater, Florida.

Swarthmore remains unbeaten on the season as the Garnet improve to 4-0, while the Bears slip to 2-4.

Sophomore attack Isabela Bloomquist (Boulder, Colo.) potted a game-high four goals while classmate Elizabeth Zack (Sewickley, Pa.) tallied three goals and a pair of assists to lead the way for Swarthmore. Senior midfielder Emma Holub (New York, N.Y.) added three goals and a helper for the Garnet who also received two goals from sophomore attack Sophie Finkelstein (Arlington, Va.) and a goal and an assist from senior attack Andie Kapiloff (Houston, Texas).

The Garnet scored the first four goals of the contest, led 9-1 at the break and 11-2 at the end of three quarters of play.

Swarthmore outshot Bridgewater State by a healthy margin of 33-10 and held the edge in draw controls (12-7) and ground balls (16-14). Annabel Stifler led all players with five draw controls.

Junior Helen Stafford (Reisterstown, Md.) and senior Katee Kemether (Pennington, N.J.) combined to make four saves between the pipes for the Garnet with Stafford picking up the win.

Senior midfielder Delaney Langton (Scituate, R.I.) paced Bridgewater State with a goal and an assist to go along with two ground balls and two draw controls. Junior midfielder Haley Wood (Middleboro, Mass.) and junior attack Savannah Herrington (Kinnelon, N.J.) also found the back of the net for the Bears.

BSU senior netminder Olivia Kerrigan (Braintree, Mass.) turned aside ten shots in net.

The Bears are off until Wednesday, March 15th when they travel to MIT for a six o'clock game with the Engineers. Swarthmore takes on Wittenberg University tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM in Clearwater.
