BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Savana Malo has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.
A native if Milford, Massachusetts, Malo placed second in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 0.25 inches (5.19m) and placed fourth in the 100-meter dash with a finals time of 13.23 seconds this past weekend at the Jonathan Tymann Invitational hosted by Gordon College. She also recorded a preliminary time of 13.20 seconds in the 100.
Malo currently ranks 30th in the East Region in the 100
The MASCAC Rookie of the Week honor marks the third of Malo's career. She was also named conference rookie of the week twice during the indoor season.
The outdoor season continues for the BSU women's track & field team on Saturday as the Bears will compete at the Amherst Spring Fling.
