Naomi Cass Named MASCAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Naomi Cass has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Naomi Cass has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
Cass captured the MASCAC individual title in both the mile and the 5,000-meter run this past weekend at the MASCAC Championships while also running a leg on the Bears' conference champion 4x400-meter relay (4:16.31). The Westport, Massachusetts product posted a career-best time of 5:16.50 in the mile and set the meet record with a time of 18:12.30 in the 5,000 as she helped the Bears place second in the team standings at the meet.
Cass currently ranks 24th in the East Region in the mile.
The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the sixth of Cass' career and third indoor distinction. She also earned MASCAC Runner of the Week accolades an impressive 15 times over the past three cross country seasons.
In upcoming action, several members of the BSU men's indoor track & field team will compete on Sunday at the USATF-New England Championships at Harvard University or the Saucony Battle for Boston at BU.
