Women's Track & Field Places Third at MASCAC Outdoor Championships

FITCHBURG, Mass. -- Sophomore Grace Inacio (Taunton, Mass.) led the Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.

The sprinter won a pair of events and set a school record at the Eliot Field Athletic Conference on Saturday.

BSU placed third in the meet with 128 points, behind defending champion Westfield State with 203 points and Worcester State with 153 points.

Inacio won the 100-meter dash in a finals and school-record time of 11.89 seconds, then took first place in the 200 in a time of 25.10 seconds. She eclipsed Alison McDonough's previous 100 mark of 11.99 seconds set a year ago.

The other BSU individual winner and MASCAC champion was sophomore Jane Sitek Shaver (Burlington, Vt.) in the discus. Sitek Shaver captured top honors with a personal-best throw of 109 feet, ten inches (33.84m).

Freshman Savana Malo (Milford, Mass.) placed second behind Inacio in the 200 in 26.58 and third in the 100 in 12.89. She was also third in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 6.25 inches (5.34m). Malo recorded personal-best marks in all three events.

Sophomore Bella Grover (Warren, Mass.) was second in the high jump (4'11.75"/1.52m) and second in the 400 hurdles in 1:08.71.

Freshman Madison Campbell (Weymouth, Mass.) finished second in the javelin with a distance of 105 feet (32.00m) and checked in at fourth in the discus (104'9"/31.94m).

Senior Naomi Cass (Westport, Mass.) placed second in the 5,000 in 17:32.41 while sophomore Olivia Downin (Hudson, Mass.) was second in the 800 in 2:26.31 and graduate student Lisa Jaeger (Halle, Germany) finished third in the 10,000 in a PR of 44:15.26.

Rounding out the Bears' top four performers were sophomore Chloe Davies (Foxborough, Mass.) in the high jump (4'7"/1.40m) and sophomore Rhiannon Vos (Marstons Mills, Mass.) in the 5,000. Vos' time in the 5,000 was a personal-best.

BSU will be at Springfield College on Friday and Saturday for the Division III New England Championships.
