BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fourth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Serenity Sands has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Sands earned All-NEICAAA honors at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships held this past weekend at UMass Amherst. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts product placed third in the high jump with a career-best leap of five feet, 7.75 inches (1.72m) as she was was just one centimeter shy of Abbi Peterson's BSU outdoor mark of five feet, eight inches (1.73m) set in 2023.
Sands currently ranks third in all of Division III in the high jump.
The MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week honor marks the 24th of Sands' career and 12th outdoor distinction.
Several members of the BSU outdoor track & field teams will compete on Thursday afternoon at the MIT Final Qualifier.
