CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Kiara Abrantes and graduate student Jailene Escalera (Rockland, Mass.) competed on Thursday at the MIT Final Qualifier.

Abrantes placed second in the 400-meter dash with a PR time of 56.72 seconds. The Somerset, Massachusetts product bettered her previous personal best of 57.20 seconds set back in March at the NEICAAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Abrantes finished the outdoor season ranked 42nd in all of Division III in the event.

Escalera, who hails from Rockland, Massachusetts, placed first in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Escalera recorded a time of 12.46 seconds in the 100 and 25.19 seconds in the 200.
