BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Aislyn Kelliher has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Kelliher went 2-0 in second singles competition last week and recorded a 1-1 mark in first flight doubles play as the Bears defeated Little East rivals UMass Boston and UMass Dartmouth.
Kelliher earned a 6-0, 6-2 straight set decision over her second flight singles opponent as the Bears stunned three-time defending LEC champion UMass Boston, 4-3. The Plymouth, Massachusetts also cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 straight set win at second singles and paired with classmate Morgan Smith (Taunton, Mass.) for a 6-1 triumph at first doubles in the Bears' 6-1 triumph over UMass Dartmouth.
In two seasons with the Bears, Kelliher has produced an overall singles record of 15-7 including a 10-2 mark in the Little East. She is also 13-12 in doubles competition with an 8-4 record in conference play.
The LEC Player of the Week honor marks the first of Kelliher's career.
The BSU women's tennis team is currently 6-4 on the season and 4-1 in the Little East standings. The Bears entertain LEC foe Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock.
