WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team is in second place two days into the Little East Conference Championships.
The Bears have 194 points and trail only Eastern Connecticut State, which has 308.5 points. Keene State is third with 181 points.
BSU had four individual swimmers place in the top eight during Friday night's competition at the Boston Sports Institute.
On Thursday, the Bears swept the top four places in the 3-meter diving event.
Freshman Sienna DeLucia (Wallingford, Conn.) finished fourth in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 32.53 seconds.
Senior Ava Fenton (Monument Beach, Mass.) took fifth place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:02.77.
In the 50 freestyle, sophomore Evangelina Chaves (Raynham, Mass.) was seventh in 26.05 seconds.
Freshman Morgan Maher (Dighton, Mass) was the eighth-place finisher in the 200 individual medley in 2:29.38.
BSU's 400 medley relay team was fourth in 4:17.77 while the 200 freestyle relay team finished sixth in 1:46.16. Senior Julie Remson (Norwalk, Conn.), DeLucia, Fanton and Chaves competed on the 400 medley relay while Fenton, Maher, Remson and Chaves each swam a leg on the 200 freestyle relay.
Senior Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) is in first place in the one-meter diving competition following preliminary round results. Simard is followed by DeLucia in second place and sophomore Gianna Varady (Highland Park, N.J.) in third. The trio captured the top three spots on the three-meter board on Thursday.
The meet continues on 10 a.m. Saturday with preliminary races and there will be finals starting at 6:30 p.m.
