BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time in four games, the Bridgewater State University women's soccer team played to a tie Wednesday night.
The Bears and Connecticut College finished in a 0-0 draw in a non-conference matchup at Mazzaferro Field. It was the first meeting between BSU and the Camels, a member of the perennially strong New England Small College Athletic Conference.
The tie gives the Bears a 3-6-3 record while Connecticut College is 4-5-1.
BSU had recently played 1-1 ties with Westfield State University and Gordon College.
The Bears' have scored just two goals in the past five games, going 0-2-3 in that stretch since a 5-0 win over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Sept. 20.
Connecticut College had a 23-8 advantage in overall shots, 8-3 in shots on goal.
BSU senior goalkeeper Logan Levesque (Bristol, R.I.) made seven saves to record her 22nd career shutout (21 solo) as she moved into second place on the Bears' all-time list surpassing BSU Hall of Famer Tracey Ullathorne who notched 21.5 shutouts from 1992 to 1995. Lauren DeSousa (2015-2017) is the Bears' all-time leader with 24 shutouts.
The Camels used three goalkeepers during the game. Sophomore Maia Kafer (Philadelphia, Pa.) had two stops in 68:05. Sophomore Saylor Redfearn (Middletown, R.I.) made on save in 10:59 and freshman Yael Bugaeu (Westborough, Mass.) did not face any shots in 10:56.
The teams each had chances to score in the last 10 minutes.
BSU sophomore Hope Montgomery (Abington, Mass.) blocked a shot by junior Olivia Smith (Medfield, Mass.) with Levesque out of position, preventing a goal.
In the 88th minute, BSU's leading goal scorer, Olivia Robarge (Pepperell, Mass.) sent a shot just wide of the far post from 25 yards away.
In the first half, Connecticut College junior Zola Alcaro (Norwell, Mass.) hit the crossbar with around six minutes to go before the break.
BSU took part in two scoreless ties last season against Wheaton College and the University of Massachusetts Boston.
The Bears resume their Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule on Saturday, hosting Salem State University at 2 p.m.
Connecticut College will travel to Clinton, N.Y., on Saturday for an 11 a.m. game against Hamilton.
