BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman center Emilie von der Linden has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.
A native of Sanbornville, New Hampshire, von der Linden averaged 15 points, 12 rebounds (five offensive) and two assists in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears while shooting 66.7% (12-18) from the floor and 75% (6-8) at the free throw line.
von der Linden posted a double-double with career highs of 18 points and 15 rebounds (six offensive) in a 73-66 MASCAC win over Westfield State. She also tallied 12 points, nine rebounds (four offensive), three assists and a blocked shot in a 66-57 conference road victory over Framingham State.
Through 16 games this season, all starts, von der Linden is averaging 9.8 points, 8.7 rebounds (3.0 offensive) and 1.9 blocks while shooting 50.4% (64-127) from the floor and 65.1% (28-43) at the free throw line. She currently leads the MASCAC in blocked shots and ranks second among the conference leaders in both field goal percentage and double-doubles (5) as well as third in rebounds, tied for fourth in offensive rebounds, sixth in made field goals and ninth in scoring.
von der Linden also earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors back on December 15th and January 12th.
The BSU women's basketball team is currently 7-9 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in the MASCAC. The Bears entertain conference rival Worcester State University on Wednesday evening at 5:30.
