Emilie von der Linden Named MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman center Emilie von der Linden has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman center Emilie von der Linden has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.
A native of Sanbornville, New Hampshire, von der Linden averaged 12.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots while shooting 52.9% (9-17) from the floor and 70% (7-10) at the free throw line in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears.
von der Linden posted a double-double, her third of the season, with a career-high 17 points as well as 12 rebounds (four offensive) to go along with three blocked shots in a 59-51 MASCAC victory over Salem State. She also notched eight points and five rebounds (two offensive) in a 62-39 conference win on the road over Fitchburg State.
Through 12 games this season, all starts, von der Linden is averaging 8.5 points, 7.9 rebounds (2.6 offensive) and two blocks while shooting 46.6% (41-88) from the floor and 60.6% (20-33) at the free throw line. She currently leads the MASCAC in blocked shots and ranks fourth among the conference leaders in field goal percentage as well as seventh in rebounds and offensive rebounds.
von der Linden also earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors back on December 15th.
The BSU women's basketball team is currently 3-9 on the season and a perfect 2-0 in the MASCAC. The Bears travel to Anna Maria College on Wednesday evening for a five o'clock conference game with the AMCATS.
