BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior forward Arielle Cleveland has been selected to play in the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic to be held on Sunday, March 30th (1:00 PM) at Smith College.
Players from around the region were nominated for the honor by their coaches and Sports Information Directors. Coaches then selected the 22 participants through a vote.
Cleveland averaged eight points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 steals in 26 games this season. The Groveland, Massachusetts product also shot 31% (36-116) from three-point range.
Cleveland finished the year ranked fifth among the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) leaders in three-point shooting percentage, seventh in rebounding, eighth in made three-pointers, tied for eighth in assists and tenth in blocked shots (0.6 bpg). She helped the Bears (19-7) capture both the MASCAC regular season and tournament titles, and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the 12th time in program history.
In 99 games over four seasons at Bridgewater State, Cleveland accumulated 718 points, 582 rebounds, 127 assists, 97 steals, and 44 blocked shots.
Cleveland is one of five players from the MASCAC competing in the NEWBA Senior All-Star Classic. She is joined by Jordan Grant of Westfield State University, Riley Harlow of Fitchburg State University, Katie Haselton of Framingham State University and Katie Hurynowicz of Worcester State University.
