BRIDGEWATER, Mass. –Bridgewater State University junior guard Jenna Williamson has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week. Williamson shares the weekly honor with Framingham State senior forward Kia Minor.
Williamson averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears with a pair of MASCAC wins over Framingham State and Westfield State. The Ludlow, Massachusetts native also shot 52.4% (11-21) from the floor and 46.2% (6-13) from three-point range for the week.
Williamson scored 14 points to go along with eight rebounds, five assists and three steals in a 95-63 rout of the Rams. She capped off the week with 16 points on 4 of 7 shooting from behind the arc in a 49-46 come-from-behind road triumph at Westfield.
Through 20 games this season, Williamson is averaging 11.3 points to go along with 3.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.1 steals. She is shooting 36% (40-for-111) from behind the arc and 71.1% (27-for-38) at the free throw line.
Williamson currently ranks second in the MASCAC in minutes played (33.8 mpg), third in three-point shooting percentage, and she is tied for fourth in the conference in made three-pointers.
In 74 career games over her first three seasons with the Bears, Williamson has amassed 835 points, 284 rebounds, 207 assists and 94 steals. She is also a career 36.6% (136-for-372) shooter from behind the arc. Williamson and teammate Elisha Homich (37.8%) are presently well above Kim Mooney's (1991-94) all-time BSU three-point shooting mark of 33.0% (101-for-306).
The BSU women's basketball team is presently 17-3 on the season and stand atop the MASCAC standings with an 8-1 conference mark. Winners of five straight games and 11 of their last 12, the Bears host non-conference foe Saint Joseph's College on Tuesday night (8:00) before travelling to MASCAC rival Worcester State on Saturday afternoon (3:30) for a key matchup with the second place Lancers.
