BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior righthander Lily Gagnon has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week.
A native of East Haven, Connecticut, Gagnon went 2-0 with a pair of complete games and a shutout in two starts for the Bears last week at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Little River, South Carolina. She also posted a 0.00 earned run average with ten strikeouts and just one walk in ten innings of work.
Gagnon tossed a complete game three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in an 8-0 mercy rule win over Valley Forge. She also allowed just a pair of unearned runs on five hits with no walks and three strikeouts in a 10-2 mercy rule win over Penn State-Abington.
At the plate, Gagnon went 4-for-12 (.333) with a walk, two runs and four RBI.
In three appearances this season in the circle including two starts, Gagnon is 2-0 with two complete games and a shutout. She has struck out ten batter and walked three over 11 innings and currently sports a 0.00 earned runs average.
In 14 appearances (six starts) over three seasons with the Bears, Gagnon is 3-1 with three complete games and a shutout. She has fanned 25 batters over 39 1/3 innings of work and checks in with a career 2.67 ERA.
The MASCAC Pitcher of the Week honor marks the first of Gagnon's career.
The BSU softball team is currently 6-4 on the young season. The Bears travel to Salve Regina University on Saturday for a noontime doubleheader with the Seahawks.
