BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Kevin McBirney has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

McBirney placed 51st out of a field of 343 runners this past weekend at the 51st Annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational held on the UMD campus. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts product completed the rain-soaked and muddy eight-kilometer course in a time of 25:59.44 as he ranked 11th among Division III runners at the meet and helped the Bears’ to a 21st place showing in the team standings.

The MASCAC Runner of the Week accolade marks the sixth of McBirney's career as he also earned the honor four times during the 2023 campaign.

Following a weekend off, the BSU men's cross country team will compete at Keene State Invitational on Saturday, October 5th.
