Kevin McBirney Named MASCAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University graduate student Kevin McBirney has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University graduate student Kevin McBirney has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
McBirney placed tenth in the 800-meter run (second among Division III runners) with a BSU indoor record time of 1:51.79 this past weekend at the John Thomas Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts product eclipsed his own previous indoor standard of 1:52.54 set last year at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational.
McBirney currently ranks eighth in all of Division III in the 800 and third in the East Region.
The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the 20th of McBirney's career including 12 indoor distinctions. He has also earned MASCAC Runner of the Week accolades nine times as a cross country student-athlete.
The BSU men's indoor track & field team is back in action on Saturday as the Bears will compete at the Wheaton Invitational and the River Hawk Invitational held at The Track at New Balance.
