EASTON, Mass. -- Clayton Pastor Norales (New Bedford, Mass.) continued his successful freshman season for the Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track & field team Saturday.
Pastor Norales earned All-New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association honors by finishing eighth in the long jump at Stonehill College's WB Mason Stadium.
BSU's 4x400-meter relay team also received All-NEICAAA recognition after finishing fourth.
The team consists of seniors Chris Beaulieu (Monson, Mass.), Ryker King (Wareham, Mass.), and Nicholas Grace (Acushnet, Mass.) and junior Aydan Fournier (Assonet, Mass.).
The top eight finishers are All-NEICAAA honorees in a meet that includes competitors from all three divisions in New England.
BSU finished in 14th place out of 20 teams with 12 points.
Pastor Norales had a jump of 21 feet, 3 1/2 inches to become an All-NEICAAA performer in his first try.
Earlier this season, he was second in the long jump at the BSU Bears Invitational, second in the MASCAC Championships and earned All-Division III New England honors with a fourth-place finish.
The 4x400 relay team finished in a season-best time of 3:19.95 to take fourth place and score eight points.
The 4x400 squad was also fourth at the Division III New England Championships.
The 4x100 relay team just missed All-NEICAAA honors by finishing ninth with a time of 43.12 seconds. The squad featured graduate student Landon Crowley (West Bridgewater, Mass.), senior Dasean Peters-Wolfe (Mansfield, Mass.) and juniors Matthew Mooney (Douglas, Mass.) and Zachary Feist (Stoughton, Mass.).
The Bears had several others compete on the second day of the meet.
Fournier was 13th in the 800-meter race with a time of 1:54.43, less than two seconds from the top eight. He equaled his career-best time recorded a week ago at DIII New Englands.
Three sprinters were in the 200-meter race, including Crowley, who was 21st in 22.42 seconds, Peters-Wolfe, who was 22nd in 22.52, and Mooney, who was 23rd in 22.52.
Mooney was also 15th in the 100 preliminary with a time of 11.05.
King finished 10th in the 110 hurdles in 15.24 seconds.
On Friday, senior Kyle Ackroyd (Charlestown, R.I.) was thrd in the 10,000 for All-NEICAAA honors.
Members of the BSU men's outdoor track & field team may compete in the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday at 4 p.m.
