BOSTON, Mass. -- Two members of the Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field team competed in the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association
Championships Friday.
Senior Ryker King (Wareham, Mass.) was in the heptathlon that concludes on Saturday while graduate student Landon Crowley (West Bridgewater, Mass.) ran in the 60-meter dash.
The NEICAAA meet is being held at the Reggie Lewis Center and includes competitors from all three divisions in the region.
After the first four events of the heptathlon, King has 2,204 points and is in 11th place.
He was tied for 10th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.59 seconds for 684 points and was 12th in the shot put with a throw of 29 feet, 8 and 3/4 inches for 429 points.
In the long jump, King was 13th with a leap of 18 feet, 5 and 1/4 inches to register 506 points and in the high jump, he was 10th with a leap of 5 feet, 8 and 3/4 inches for 585 points.
King will take part in the 60-meter hurdles at 10 a.m. Saturday, the pole vault at 10:45 a.m. and the 1,000-meter run at 12:45 p.m. to close out the heptathlon.
Crowley was 16th in the preliminary race of the 200-meter event, the fastest of three Division III runners in the race.
His time of 22.61 seconds to did not qualify Crowley for the top eight for Saturday's final.
Crowley will return to the NEICAAA meet on Saturday at 10:45 a.m. to take part in the 60-meter dash preliminary race.
Two other BSU athletes will be in action at the NEICAAA Championships along with King and Crowley on Saturday.
Graduate student Chigozie Adigwe (Lowell, Mass.) will be in the 60-meter hurdles at 10:15 a.m.
Senior Kyle Ackroyd (Charlestown, R.I.) is in the 3,000-meter race at 1:20 p.m.
