Danner-Hicks, McPherson Lead Men's Track & Field at Harvard Open
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Joshua Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) and Michael McPherson (Mansfield, Mass.) both broke their own school records in the triple jump and shot put, respectively, to lead the Bridgewater State University men’s indoor track and field team at the Harvard Open on Saturday.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Joshua Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) and Michael McPherson (Mansfield, Mass.) both broke their own school records in the triple jump and shot put, respectively, to lead the Bridgewater State University men's indoor track and field team at the Harvard Open on Saturday.
Danner-Hicks jumped 45 feet, 6.26 inches to place fifth at the meet as he eclipsed his previous mark of 44 feet, 08.25 inches set last season. McPherson placed second in the shot with a heave of 55 feet, 8.50 inches, beating his record of 16.93 set just last week. McPherson also finished tenth in the weight throw with a toss of 51 feet, 11.25 inches.
Joseph Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) qualified for the Division III New England Championships and ECAC Championships in the 55-meter dash with a tenth place time of 6.61 seconds. Brian Espinosa (Rehoboth, Mass.) also qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the 200 as he finished 15th overall with a time of 22.89 seconds.
Andrew Sukeforth (Middleboro, Mass.) and Joshua Goehring (Haverhill, Mass.) both qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 600-meter run with times of 1:25.08 and 1:25.13, respectively. Sukeforth placed ninth in the event while Goehring was 11th overall.
Stephan Cawley (Dedham, Mass.) and Christian Lavoie (Marion, Mass.) both qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the shot put with throws of 46 feet, 4.25 inches and 45 feet, seven inches, respectively. Both placed in the top ten with Cawley checking in at seventh overall and Lavoie ninth.
The Bears are off until January 19th when they travel to Wheaton College for the Wheaton Invitational.
