BRISTOL, R.I. -- Sophomore Aaron Fowler (Brookline, Mass.) won two events and was part of a winning relay team for the Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team Saturday.
The Bears placed fourth with 170 pounds at the Roger Williams Invitational. The host team finished first with 427.80 points followed by Norwich and Eastern Connecticut ahead of BSU.
Fowler won the 100 backstroke in 55.33 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 53.37 seconds.
He joined junior Cooper Sever (Edgewater, Md.), junior Desmond Ng (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia) and sophomore Jirat Saengthong (Watertown, Mass.) on the 200 medley relay team that won its race in 1:37.92.
Fowler, Ng, Saengthong and senior Thomas Roach (Chelmsford, Mass.) took second in the 400 freestyle relay.
Also winning an event for the Bears was Saengthong, who placed first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.25.
Sever was third in that event with a time of 50.03.
Ng was second in the 200 individual medley, clocking in at 2:02.45, and was fourth in the 100 backstroke in 57.06 and seventh in the 100 butterfly.
BSU will go against Wheaton College in Norton on Friday at 6 p.m.
