BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior midfielder Ryan Healy has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
The MVP of the MASCAC Tournament, Healy tallied two game-winning goals and added a pair of assists for six points to help lead the Bears to the tournament title. The Cork, Island native potted the game-winning goal and dished out two assists in a 4-1 semifinal round win over Salem State, and scored the game-winner in the 85th minute in a 1-0 championship game victory over Mass. Maritime.
In 17 games this season, Healy has career highs of three goals (two game-winners) and five assists for 11 points.
In 70 career games over four seasons at Bridgewater State, Healy has recorded five goals and eight assists for 18 points. The Bears have an overall record of 42-21-13 (.638), including a 22-4-3 (.810) MASCAC regular season mark, over the course of his career.
The MASCAC Player of the Week honor marks the first of Healy's career.
The BSU men's soccer team is currently 13-5-1 on the season. By virtue of the MASCAC Tournament championship, the Bears advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the eighth time in program history and second in the last three years. Bridgewater will take on Rowan University in opening round play on Saturday, November 15th at 1:30 PM on the campus of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.
