Regis Captures Cave Classic Title

BRIDGEWATER, Mass.-- The Pride's men's basketball team was back on the road today for the final day of the BSU Cave Classic, The Pride would handle Fisher College, 96-73 enroute to a tournament championship win.

The tournement MVP, sophomore Aamyr Sullivan (Middletown, NY), would lead Regis' offense with 16 points and eight assi. Senior Ned Fitzpatrick (Providence, R.I.) would have himself a perfect day, going four-for-four from the field, including a three-pointer, for nine points.

For Fisher, Amari Jamison would snag five boards and have 12 points of his own.

How it Happened

Regis came out in this one in familiar fashion, controlling in the first half. Early scoring was sparked by Sullivan, sophomore Rob Elliot (Willington, Conn.) and senior Gehrig Brynda (Deerfield, Mass.). After Fisher briefly tied the game at 22, the Pride responded with a major momentum shift fueled by strong defense and hot shooting from senior Jamir Harvey (Robbins, Ill) and Sullivan. Regis closed the half on a dominant run. Sullivan attacked the rim, Harvey knocked down multiple threes, and Elliott buried two late triples to break the game open. The Pride outscored Fisher 28–7 down the stretch and took a commanding 50–31 lead into halftime.

Regis maintained full control to open the second half, quickly extending their lead behind a Brynda layup and steady ball movement. Although Fisher responded with a few athletic finishes, the Pride answered every push. From there, Regis' depth took over. The Pride repeatedly capitalized on second-chance opportunities and forced turnovers that turned into easy points. The game would end 96-73.

• Harvey would be named to the All-Tournament team with the tournament MVP Sullivan.
