BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior guard Dante Kikuba has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
Kikuba averaged 18 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals in two games for the Bears last week at the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas while shooting 50% (14-28) from the floor. The Framingham, Massachusetts product notched 23 points, seven rebounds (two offensive), four assists and two steals in an 88-74 win over Whittier; and 13 points, one rebound, four assists and a pair of steals in a 100-68 setback to Central
Through 11 games this season, Kikuba is averaging 13 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.7 steals while shooting 30% (16-53) from three-point range and 71% (27-38) at the free throw line.
Kikuba currently ranks second in the MASCAC in assists. He is also tied for seventh among the conference leaders in made three-pointers, tied for ninth in steals and ranks tenth in made field goals.
In 89 games over four seasons with the Bears, Kikuba has amassed 1,240 points (13.9 ppg), 412 rebounds (4.6 rpg), 478 assists (5.4 apg) and 210 steals (2.4 spg). He is also shooting 35% (147-415) from behind the arc and 77.3% (211-273) at the charity stripe.
Kikuba is the Bears' all-time leader in assists. He also ranks third in program history in steals and 18th in points.
The MASCAC Player of the Week honors marks the fourth of Kikuba's career.
The BSU men's basketball team is currently 2-9 on the season. The Bears open MASCAC play on Wednesday night as they travel to Fitchburg State University to take on the Falcons at seven o'clock.
