Abbie Zuber Named MASCAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University junior midfielder Abbie Zuber has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week.

Zuber tallied a pair of goals in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears against two of the top four teams in the MASCAC. The Westport, Massachusetts product potted the game-winning goal in a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Worcester State, and scored the difference goal in a 2-1 conference victory over Fitchburg State.

Through 12 games this season, Zuber has recorded 15 goals and six assists for 36 points. She currently ranks second in the MASCAC behind teammate Samantha Souza in both goals and scoring, and is tied for third with Souza in assists. She is also tied for third among the conference leaders in game-winning goals with three.

In 50 games (all starts) over her first three seasons with the Bears, Zuber has amassed 24 goals and 19 assists for 67 points. She is presently tied with BSU Hall of Famer Andrea Erickson (1986-89) for fifth place among the Bears' all-time assist leaders. Zuber is also 11th all-time in scoring and 12th in goals.

The MASCAC Offensive Player of the Week selection marks the second of Zuber's career.

The BSU field hockey team is currently 10-2 on the season and 6-1 in the MASCAC. The Bears travel to Salem State University this afternoon for a four o'clock conference game with the Vikings.
