Brianna Gagnon Named MASCAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior goalkeeper Brianna Gagnon has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week.
A native of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, Gagnon maded eight saves and recorded her second shutout of the season last week in the Bears’ 5-0 victory on the road over UMass Dartmouth.
In three games this season, all starts, Gagnon is 3-0 with a pair of shutouts. She has also recorded 16 saves with an .889 save percentage as well as a 0.73 goal against average in 165 minutes of action.
Gagnon currently leads the MASCAC in shutouts, goals against average and save percentage, and is tied for the conference lead in wins.
In 23 career games between the pipes for the Bears, Gagnon is 12-11 with five shutouts and a 2.19 goals against average. She has also made 149 saves and checks in with a .764 save percentage.
The MASCAC Defensive Player of the Week honor marks the fourth of Gagnon's career. She also earned the honor three times last season.
The BSU field hockey team is currently 3-1 on the season. The Bears open MASCAC play on Tuesday night as they travel to Fitchburg State University for a seven o'clock game with the Falcons.
