Adam Couch Named MASCAC Football Offensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior running back Adam Couch has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week.

Couch rushed for a season-high 150 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries and caught two passes for 51 yards and a score for 201 all-purpose yards in the Bears’ 40-27 MASCAC win on the road over Western Connecticut State University. The Winchendon, Massachusetts product scored on touchdown runs of 63 (career-high) and three yards and hauled in a career-high 40-yard TD reception.

Through four games this season, Couch has carried the ball 81 times for 392 yards and four touchdowns as he is averaging 4.8 yards per carry and 98.0 yards per game. He has also caught 11 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown.

Couch currently leads the MASCAC in scoring (30 pts.) and rushing attempts, and is tied for the conference lead in rushing touchdowns. He is also second in rushing yards (total and per game), rushing touchdowns and all-purpose yards (553).

In 13 games over two seasons with the Bears, Couch has rushed for 1,412 yards and 17 touchdowns. He is 19th all-time in program history in rushing, tied for 14th in rushing touchdowns and 28th in scoring (108 pts.).

The MASCAC Offensive Player of the Week distinction marks the third of Couch’s career as he also earned the honor twice in 2021.

The BSU football team is currently 1-3 on the season and 1-1 in the MASCAC. The Bears welcome Fitchburg State University to Swenson Field on Saturday for Homecoming. Kickoff is slated for four o’clock.
