Stephen Jacobs Named MASCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior linebacker Stephen Jacobs has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Football Defensive Player of the Week.

Jacobs forced a fumble in the end zone which resulted in a touchdown in the Bears' 20-14 MASCAC win on the road over Western Connecticut State University. The Tyngsboro, Massachusetts product also blocked a field goal in the victory, and recorded nine tackles (eight solo) including two for loss.

Through five games this season, Jacobs has tallied 28 tackles (16 solo) with four going for loss and a sack. He also has a pair of pass breakups, a forced and recovered fumble and a blocked kick.

In 24 games over three seasons with the Bears, Jacobs has amassed 140 tackles (100 solo) with four sacks and 20 tackles for loss to go along with an interception and three pass breakups.

Winners of three straight games, the BSU football team is currently 3-2 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in the MASCAC. The Bears host conference foe UMass Dartmouth on Friday night at seven.
