Equestrian Wraps Up Fall Season at Hillside Meadows

GRAFTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University equestrian team wrapped up the fall portion of the 2022-2023 schedule on Sunday at the Hillside Meadows Equestrian Center in Grafton, Massachusetts. Boston College hosted the show. The Bears finished in seventh place in the team standings.

Sophomore Emily Desmond (Braintree, Mass.) captured top honors in limit flat while riding Linda, a 15-hand quarter horse. 

Senior Samantha Burke (Weymouth, Mass.) placed second on Beanie, a 15.3-hand bay thoroughbred, in limit over fences and added a third-place showing on Leo, a 16.2-hand quarter horse, in limit flat.

Senior captain Jenna Root (Rutland, Mass.) rode Polaris, a 17-hand grey warmblood, to a third-place finish in limit over fences. Root also placed fourth on Ghetti, a 15.2-hand chestnut warmblood, in limit flat.

Freshman Rianne Wyckstrom (Hudson, Mass.) saddled up on on Leo, a 16.2-hand quarter horse), and placed third in intermediate over fences. Wyckstrom also finished sixth in intermediate flat on Goose, a 16.3-hand grey Irish sport horse. 

Junior Janelle Gibson (Brockton, Mass.) posted a third-place performance on Linda, a 15-hand quarter horse, in novice flat. 

Freshman Addison Prada (West Barnstable, Mass.) hopped on Caesar, a 16-hand draft cross, in open over fences and placed fourth in the event. Prada added a fourth-place finish atop Reserve on Whiskey, a 16-hand Appaloosa quarter horse, in open flat.

Senior captain Ashley Drake (Suffield, Conn.) finished sixth on Polaris, a 17-hand grey warmblood, in limit over fences. Drake also placed sixth on Bagel, a 14.2-hand Palomino pony, in limit flat.

Freshman Hannah Arsenault (Attleboro, Mass.) saddled up on Beanie, a 15.3-hand bay thoroughbred, and placed sixth in limit flat. 

The Bears will return to the competition ring on April 1st of 2023 when the Bears travel to the Holly Hill Show Stables in Hanover, Massachusetts for the IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 Championships.
