Amber White Named MASCAC Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. â Bridgewater State University junior right-hander Amber White has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week. White shares the weekly honor along with MCLA freshman Rachel Quackenbush.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior right-hander Amber White has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week. White shares the weekly honor along with MCLA freshman Rachel Quackenbush.
A native of Middleboro, Massachusetts, White went 2-1 in the circle for the Bears last week with three complete games, 20 strikeouts and a 0.57 earned run average in 24 2/3 innings.
White posted a complete game, four-hit shutout of MASCAC foe Fitchburg State as she fanned nine in a 1-0 nine-inning win over the Falcons. She also gave up just one unearned run on five hits while striking out three over 8 2/3 innings in a 1-0 extra inning setback to Wheaton. White also allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits with a walk and eight strikeouts in an 8-4 win over RIC.
In 11 appearances this season, White is 6-4 with ten complete games, and three shutouts. She also has an impressive 0.98 earned run average and has fanned 69 batters while walking just nine in 78 2/3 innings of work.
White leads the MASCAC in complete games, innings pitched, strikeouts and games started. She is also second in the conference in wins, third in ERA and tied for fourth in appearances.
In two seasons with the Bears, White has compiled a record of 22-10 with 201 strikeouts, 29 complete games and nine shutouts with a 1.47 ERA. She has hurled 238 1/3 innings over 40 appearances with 33 starts.
The BSU softball team is currently 10-10 on the season and tied for first in the MASCAC standings with a 3-1 conference mark. The Bears, who have won six of their last seven games, host Nichols College on Tuesday afternoon at three in a non-conference doubleheader.
