Michaela Ferreira Named to CoSIDA All-Academic Team
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second straight season, Bridgewater State University senior second baseman Michaela Ferreira has been selected as a Division III Capital One Academic All-District honoree by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA).

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second straight season, Bridgewater State University senior second baseman Michaela Ferreira has been selected as a Division III Capital One Academic All-District honoree by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA).
Ferreira earned first team honors in District One, which is comprised of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, and advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. Last season she was voted to the All-District One Second Team.
Ferreira started 40 games for the Bears in 2012 as she batted .325 (27-83) with five doubles, 16 runs scored and 15 RBI.
In four seasons at Bridgewater State, Ferreira appeared in 150 games and posted a career .328 (114-348) batting average with 18 doubles, five triples, a home run, 60 runs scored and 66 RBI. She also stole 17 bases and recorded a .415 on base percentage and a .417 slugging percentage.
In the classroom, Ferreira boasts an impressive 3.94 grade point average and has been named to the Dean's List in each of her first seven semesters at Bridgewater State. Michaela is majoring in Physical Education with a Teachers Licensure concentration and will graduate from BSU later this month.
As a freshman in 2009, Ferreira was selected to the All-Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) First Team as a utility player. She was also named as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-America Scholar-Athlete in 2010 and again in 2011.
The Bridgewater State softball team finished the 2012 season with a record of 29-13 including an 11-3 conference mark. Seeded second in the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears blanked Salem State, 4-0, in the opening game of the double-elimination tournament. Bridgewater was eliminated after dropping back-to-back decisions to Westfield State and eventual champion Salem during day two action.
