BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior outside hitter Ava Crane has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week.
A native of Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Crane averaged 14 kills, four aces, 23 receptions, 11.5 digs and 1.5 blocks in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears while posting a .415 hitting percentage.
Crane notched 11 kills, two assists, three aces, 20 receptions, nine digs and an assisted block in a 3-0 MASCAC win over Mass. Maritime; and a career-best 17 kills to go along with an assist, five aces, 26 receptions, 14 digs and two blocks (one solo) in a 3-2 come-from-behind conference victory on the road over Westfield State.
Through 11 matches this season, Crane has produced 90 kills, 19 assists, 26 aces, 126 receptions, 108 digs and 11 blocks (three solo). She presently ranks fourth in the MASCAC in both aces per set (0.70) and points per set (3.3) as well as sixth in kills per set (2.43) and ninth in hitting percentage (.229).
In 34 matches over her first two seasons with the Bears, Crane has amassed 232 kills, 41 assists, 80 aces, 649 receptions, 416 digs and 38 blocks (eight solo).
The MASCAC Offensive Player of the Week honor marks the first of Crane's career. She also earned defensive player of the week accolades on September 18th of 2024 and was a four-time MASCAC Rookie of the Week selection last season.
The BSU volleball team is currently 8-3 on the season and 2-0 in the MASCAC standings. The Bears travel to Anna Maria College on Thursday evening for a six o'clock conference match with the AMCATS.
