BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Naomi Cass has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

A native of Westport, Massachusetts, Cass captured top honors in the elite 10,000-meter run this past weekend at the Connecticut College Silfen Invitational. She posted a career-best time of 36:02.48 which was less than 13 seconds shy of BSU Hall of Famer Molly Rouillard’s school record time of 35:49.99 set in 2013.

Cass currently ranks 20th in all of Division III in the 10,000 and first in the East Region

The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the seventh of Cass' career and fourth outdoor distinction. She also earned MASCAC Runner of the Week accolades an impressive 15 times over the past three cross country seasons.

In upcoming action, the BSU outdoor track & field teams will host the BSU Bears Invitational on Friday with field events beginning at 11:00 AM and track events getting underway at 12:30 PM.
