BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Three members of the Bridgewater State University women's tennis program have been selected to the 2024-2025 Academic All-District® One Division III Women's Tennis Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Earning the honor from Bridgewater State are graduare student Mackenzie Silveira, senior Meghan Lotti and sophomore Samantha Bettencourt.
Silveira, Lotti and Bettencourt are three of 13 student-athletes from the Little East Conference (LEC) to earn the honor.
The 2024-2025 Academic All-District® Women’s Tennis Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or a key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. A student-athlete must have also played in at least 70% of her team's head-to-head contests for the 2024 season.
Silveira, who is making her third straight appearance on the CSC Academic All-District® One Division III Women's Tennis Team, checks in with a terrific 3.75 grade point average in her second year as a graduate student in the criminal justice program. The Middletown, Rhode Island product, earned her undergraduate degree in criminal justice from BSU in 2023 as she produced a cumulative undergrad GPA of 3.59.
Silveira recorded a 39-21 doubles mark in four seasons with the Bears including a 22-9 record in the Little East. She was also 21-17 in singles competition with a 14-8 conference mark.
A native of Stoneham, Massachusetts, Lotti is making her second straight appearance on the CSC Academic All-District® One Division III Women's Tennis Team. The communication studies major checks in with an impressive 3.94 GPA and will be attending commencement ceremonies later this week at Gillette Stadium.
In three seasons with the Bears, Lotti produced a 25-12 singles record including a 17-6 Little East mark. She was also 27-15 in doubles competition with a 16-4 record in conference play.
Bettencourt, who hails from Tiverton, Rhode Island, is a secondary education and spanish major with terrific 3.94 GPA.
Over her first two seasons with the Bears, Bettencourt is 20-6 (12-3 LEC) in singles competition and checks in with an 18-17 (11-5 LEC) doubles record.
Silveira, Lotti and Bettencourt helped the BSU women's tennis team post a 10-4 record in the fall of 2024 including a 6-2 conference mark. Seeded third in the Little East Tournament, the Bears posted a 5-0 quarterfinal round win over #6 UMass Dartmouth before dropping a 5-0 decision to second-seeded Rhode Island College in the tournament semifinals.
