BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team took part in the season-opening Roger Williams University Invitational on Saturday.
The Bears had 95 points to finish third behind the host Hawks with 657 points and Eastern Connecticut State University with 233 points. Maine Maritime Academy was fourth with 71 points.
The BSU 200-yard medley relay team of senior Julie Remson (Norwalk, Conn.), freshman Niamh Fallon (Ayer, Mass.), senior Ava Fenton (Monument Beach, Mass.) and sophomore Evangelina Chaves (Raynham, Mass.) was third in a time of 2:03.10.
The Bears were also third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with freshman Morgan Maher (Dightin, Mass.), Fenton, Fallon and senior Emily Bradford (Pittsfield, Mass.) on the team.
Remson was 10th and Fenton 11th in the 50-yard freestyle. Fenton was also 10th in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard freestyle.
There was no diving held at the meet. The Bears' roster features seven divers.
BSU will be home next Saturday for a 2 p.m. meet against Wheaton College.
