2013 ECAC Division III New England Women's Lacrosse All-Star Team (PDF)
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University freshman midfielder Lauren Geary has been selected to the 2013 ECAC Division III New England Women’s Lacrosse All-Star Team.
Geary is the only representative from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) to be voted to the regional all-star team. The Hull, Massachusetts native put together a stellar freshman campaign as she tallied 44 goals and 22 assists for 66 points while starting all 20 games for the Bears.
Geary shattered the BSU program mark for draws controls in a season with 188 as she ranked fourth in all of Division III in that category. Geary also finished 23rd nationally in ground balls and added 39 caused turnovers.
In a 24-7 MASCAC win over Worcester State on April 6th, Geary eclipsed the Bears’ single-game record with an impressive 20 draws. She notched double-digit draw controls in eight of BSU’s 20 games.
The 2013 MASCAC Rookie of the Year and first team all-conference selection, Geary helped the Bears capture both the inaugural MASCAC regular season and tournament titles and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the fourth straight season and fifth time in program history.
The BSU women’s lacrosse team ranked fourth in Division III in scoring margin (+8.95 gpg), sixth in points (501) and ninth in scoring offense (16.0 gpg). The Bears also finished 11thnationally in both winning percentage (.850) and draw controls (15.6 dpg), 12th in caused turnovers (11.9 ctpg) and 13th in scoring defense (7.05 gpg).
Notes: Geary is the Bears' first ECAC Women's Lacrosse All-Star since Jenny Jones was a second team selection in 2011...The last player to garner first team honors was Shannon Manning in 2010.
