BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman right-hander Kelley Reichert has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Softball Pitcher of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.
Reichert went 2-0 on the week with two complete games in two appearances in the circle for the Bears last week. The Milford, Massachusetts native posted a 2.50 earned run average with 12 strikeouts and just one walk in 14 innings of work.
Reichert allowed two runs on four hits over seven innings with no walks and seven strikeouts in a 6-2 MASCAC victory over Westfield State University. She also gave up three runs on seven hits over seven innings with a walk and five strikeouts in a 5-3 non-conference win over UMass Dartmouth.
In 19 appearances this season including 17 starts, Reichert is 7-7 with 12 complete games. She is also sporting a 2.41 ERA with 47 strikeouts in 107 2/3 innings of work.
Reichert currently ranks second in the MASCAC in ERA, third in innings pitched and fifth in strikeouts. She is also tied for four among the conference leaders in complete games and tied for fifth in wins.
The BSU softball team wrapped up regular season play with an overall record of 18-19 including a 12-2 mark in the MASCAC as the Bears captured a share of the conference regular season title. It marks the program’s 26th MASCAC crown and first since 2014.
Bridgewater State is the top seed in this week's MASCAC Tournament and will host the double-elimination portion of the tournament on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
