BRIIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman outfielder Alexandra Ruprecht has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Rookie of the Week.
A native of Kingston, Massachusetts, Ruprecht batted .344 (11-32) with three doubles, two runs batted in and three runs scored in ten games last week as the Bears opened the 2018 season at The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida.
Ruprecht went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI in a 6-4 win over Mount Ida College, 3-for-3 with a walk in a 6-5 setback to Concordia University and 2-for-4 with a stolen base in a 7-4 loss to the University of Mount Union. She was also 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored in a 13-2 season-opening win over Johnson State University, and 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in a 7-6 win over Catholic University.
The BSU softball team is currently 3-7 on the young season. Bridgewater's doubleheader on Friday versus Clark University has been postponed due to the impending winter storm.
