BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Kyle Ackroyd has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Ackroyd Placed 19th out of a field of 163 runners this past weekend at the season opening Suffolk Short Course Classic held at the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course in Attleboro, Massachusetts. The Charlestown, Rhode Island product covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 16:14.76 as he finished seventh among Division III student-athletes.

The MASCAC Runner of the Week honor marks the first of Ackroyd's career. He was selected as the MASCAC Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week twice during his freshman campaign of 2022.

The BSU men's cross country team will be back in action on Saturday, September 20th when the Bears travel to Dartmouth, Massachusetts for the 52nd Annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
