BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The champion Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track & field team placed five individuals and two relay teams on the All-Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference team.
The Bears won their eighth straight conference championship last Saturday at Fitchburg State University with 221 points.
Host Fitchburg State was second with 179 points as BSU continued a streak that began in the 2018 season.
First-place finishers and the winning relay teams are named to the All-MASCAC squad.
Winning events for the Bears were seniors Kyle Ackroyd (Charlestown, R.I.) and Ryker King (Wareham, Mass.), juniors Aydan Fournier (Assonet, Mass.) and Matthew Mooney (Douglas, Mass.), and sophomore Drew Alves (Taunton, Mass.).
The 4x100 relay team, consisting of graduate student Landon Crowley (West Bridgewater, Mass.), senior Dasean Peters-Wolfe (Mansfield, Mass.), Mooney and junior Zachary Feist (Stoughton, Mass.) was first.
Also winning was the 4x400 relay team of senior Chris Beaulieu (Monson, Mass.), senior Nicholas Grace (Acushnet, Mass.), King and Fournier.
Ackroyd was first in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 31:58.11 while King was the winner in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.18 seconds.
Fournier had a time of 1:56.41 to win the 800-meter run and Mooney took the 200-meter dash in 22.05 seconds.
Mooney was picked as the MASCAC Co-Athlete of the Week with Paulino Guervara of Fitchburg State University for huis performance at the MASCAC Championships.
Alves took first place in the pole vault with a personal-best leap of 12 feet, 1.5 inches (3.70m).
The 4x100 relay team finished in 42.58 seconds for the win while the 4x400 team had a winning time of 3:22.27.
The Bears will be at Springfield College on Friday and Saturday for the Division III New England Championships.
