Pastor Norales Garners All-New England Honors at DIII New Englands

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Clayton Pastor Norales (New Bedford, Mass.) had a solid debut at the Division III New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Pastor Norales earned All-New England honors in the long jump on Friday at the Blake Track on the campus of Springfield College.

He finished fourth with a career-best leap of 22 feet, 11.25 inches (6.99m) to score five points for the Bears on the first day on the meet.

In two previous meets before the New Englands, Pastor Norales finished second in the event at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships (21'9.5"/6.64m) and the BSU Bears Invitational (21'1.25"/6.43m).

The long jump was won by Tufts University senior Casey Lambert (23'9.5"/7.25m).

Three BSU sprinters took part in the preliminary race of the 100-meter dash but did not qualify. Junior Matthew Mooney (Douglas, Mass.) just missed, placing ninth in 10.94, while graduate student Landon Crowley (West Bridgewater, Mass.) was 24th in 11.13 and senior Javon Epps (Brockton, Mass.) was 29th in 11.24.

Senior Ryker King (Wareham, Mass.) was 12th in the preliminary race of the 110 hurdles in 15.36 seconds.

Sophomore Kaelan McDonald (Washington, Conn.) was 16th in the javelin with a throw of 45.24 meters.

The New England meet concludes on Saturday with BSU scheduled to be represented in six events.

Freshman Christopher Williams (Burlington, Vt.) will be in the shot put at 11 a.m. while Mooney, Crowley and senior Dasean Peters-Wolfe (Mansfield, Mass.) are in the 200 at 3 p.m.

Sophomore Joshua Cardichon (Brockton, Mass.) will be joined by freshman Sean Venator (Manchester, N.H.), senior Chris Beaulieu (Monson, Mass.) and senior Nicholas Grace (Acushnet, Mass.) in the 400 at 1:05 p.m.

Junior Aydan Fournier (Assonet, Mass.) is in the 800 at 1:55 p.m.. the 4x800 relay team competes at 4:40 p.m. and the 4x400 relay team races at 5:20 p.m.
