Men's Track & Field Competes at NEICAAA Championships

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Three members of the Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track & field team competed on Friday at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held at Veterans Stadium in New Britain, Connecticut.

Sophomore Dimetri Morris (North Andover, Mass.) placed fifth in the preliminaries of the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.04 seconds. Morris advances to the hurdles finals and will compete on Saturday afternoon at approximately 1:10 PM.

Senior Joseph Zingarelli (North Kingston, R.I.) finished 11th in the pole vault as he broke his own school record with a height of 14 feet, 5.5 inches (4.41m). Zingarelli eclipsed his previous outdoor mark of 14 feet (4.27m) set earlier this season at the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships. Zingarelli placed fourth among Division III student-athletes in the event.

Sophomore Exondus Barnes (East Providence, R.I.) finished 14th in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, nine inches (6.63m). Barnes, who places second among Division III student-athletes in the long jump at the meet, will compete on Saturday afternoon in the high jump at approximately 1:15 PM.
