Cawley Sets Shot Put Mark at NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Stephan Cawley (Dedham, Mass.) broke his own school record in the shot put to lead the Bridgewater State men's track and field team at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Indoor Championships at Boston University.

Cawley registered a distance of 48 feet, eight inches to finish in tenth place in the event.  He eclipsed his previous school mark of 48 feet, 0.75 inches set earlier this season at the Tufts Invitational II.

Also competing for the Bears were freshmen Matt Horan (Billerica, Mass.), Joshua Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) and Joseph Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.).  Horan finished 22nd in the 60-meter hurdles (8.84 seconds) while Joshua Danner-Hicks placed 16th in the triple jump (42'3.50") and Joseph Danner-Hicks crossed the line 28th in the 60-meter dash (7.39 seconds).

Next weekend the Bears will compete at the ECAC Division III Championships held at the NYC Armory.
