Sukeforth Sets 800 Mark as Men's Track Competes at Terrier Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Freshman Andrew Sukeforth (Middleboro, Mass.) set the Bridgewater State men's indoor record in the 800-meter run to lead the Bears at the Boston University Terrier Invitational on Saturday.

Sukeforth posted a time of 1:56.48 to finish in 17th place at the meet, eclipsing the previous BSU indoor standard of 1:57.60 set by Tim Barrow in 2008.  Sukeforth, who was competing in the 800 for the first time this season, qualified for the New England Division III Championships, the ECAC Division III Championships and the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships. 

Sukeforth also ran a leg on the Bears' 4 x 400 relay team which posted a time of 3:33.75 to finish in 32nd place.  Juniors Andrew Corley (Milton, Mass.), Mike Sukeforth (Middleboro, Mass.) and Bill Tuft (Hanson, Mass.) also competed in the relay. 

Mike Sukeforth qualified for Division III New Englands in the 800 with a time of 1:59.56, while freshman Joshua Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) also qualified in the triple jump (42'6.00"). 

Sophomore Felix Mensah (Lowell, Mass.) grabbed 17th place in the 60-meter dash (7.18 seconds), while freshman Matt Horan (Billerica, Mass.) finished 17th in the 60-meter hurdles (8.83 seconds).  Mensah also qualified for Division III New Englands in the 200-meter dash (23.15 seconds).
