GORHAM, Maine -- The Bridgewater State University men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Little East Conference foe University of Southern Maine on Tuesday afternoon at the Costello Sports Complex in Gorham, Maine.
With the win, Southern Maine improves to 6-4 overall and earns its first LEC win to stand at 1-2. Bridgewater State drops to 6-5 and 2-2 in the conference.
Senior Michael Sarrazin (Lewiston, Maine) and junior Matt Larson (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) earned and 8-6 win at first doubles to lead the Huskies to a sweep of the doubles points.
Ahead 3-0 after doubles play, the Huskies won five out of six singles matches to secure the victory. Senior Zach Caron (North Conway, N.H.) earned at 7-6 (4), 6-2 win at the top singles flight and the Huskies earned victories at the 3 to 6 positions.
BSU junior Mike Zagame (Uxbridge, Mass.) scored the lone point of the match for the Bears defeating Larson in a hard-fought contest 7-5, 0-6, 10-7 at second singles.
Southern Maine travels to UMass Dartmouth on Saturday (12:00 p.m.). Bridgewater State hosts Curry on Thursday (3:00 p.m.).
