BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Wilco Zbitnoff has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Men's Rookie Swimmer of the Week.

Zbitnoff won a pair of events to help the Bears sweep a tri-meet this past weekend against Clark University and Little East foe Plymouth State University. The Haverhill, Massachusetts native captured top honors in the 50 freestyle with a personal-best time of 23.02 seconds, and was the first to touch the wall in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.84 seconds.

Zbitnoff also recorded a backstroke split of 26.70 seconds on the Bears' second place 200 medley relay squad (1:42.63).

The Little East Rookie Swimmer of the Week honor marks the first of Zbitnoff's career.

The season continues for the BSU swimming and diving teams on the Thursday, February 12th when the Bears head to Babson College for the three-meter diving portion of the 2026 Little East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. The remainder of the four-day championship meet will take place from Friday, February 13th to Sunday, February 15th at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley.
