Richard Smith Named NEISDA Men's Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Richard Smith has been selected as the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Men's Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com.

A native of Milford, Massachusetts, Smith captured top honors in both the 200 individual medley (2:00.21) and the 200 backstroke (2:00.34) as the Bears split a tri-meet with Keene State College and Brandeis University this past weekend. His time of 2:00.34 in the 200 backstroke marked a season-best.

Smith also swam the opening leg on the Bears' first place 400 medley relay squad as he and teammates Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.), Quinn McAlear (Norton, Mass.) and Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) posted a season-best time of 3:40.20. Smith completed the 100 backstroke portion of the relay in a season-best time of 53.76 seconds.

In upcoming action, the BSU swimming & diving teams host Division II Bentley University tonight (Jan. 24) at 6:00 PM.
