Three Bears Named to United Soccer Coaches All-New England Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Three members of the Bridgewater State University men's soccer team have been selected to the the 2025 United Soccer Coaches Division III Men’s Soccer All-Region Two Team.

Junior midfielder Tyler Chang garnered second team honors while junior defender Hector Bucio and senior midfielder Filippo Mucci earned third team accolades.

The three Bears are among six Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) student-athletes to earn the honor in 2025, joining junior forward Nick Parakilas of Westfield State University, senior midfielder Iago DeSousa-Vieira of Salem State University and Massachusetts Maritime Academy junior forward Brody Calvert.

Chang is making his second straight appearance on the all-region team while Mucci is also a two-time recipient having garnered the accolade in 2023.

A native of Acushnet, Massachusetts, Chang tallied a career-high five goals and four assists for 14 points in 20 games this season.

Bucio, who hails from North Easton, Massachusetts, scored a goal and added three assists for five points while anchoring the Bears' back line.

Chang and Bucio were integral parts of a defensive unit that limited teams to less than five (4.75) shots on goal per game and helped post eight shutouts.

In 57 games over his first three seasons with the Bears, Chang has recorded five goal and eight assists for 18 points. Bucio checks in with eight goals and six assists for 22 points in 55 career games.

As a team, the Bears have recorded 20 shutouts since Chang and Bucio arrived as freshman in 2023.

Mucci scored six goals and dished out a career-high nine assists for 21 points in 19 games this season. The Vineyard Haven, Massachusettes resident led the MASCAC in assists and tied for fifth among the conference leaders in scoring.

On a national level, Mucci tied for 39th in all of Division III in assists per game (0.47).

In 68 games over four seasons with the Bears, Mucci amassed 19 goals and 17 assists for 55 points. He ranks 12th all-time in program history in scoring.

Chang, Mucci and Bucio helped the BSU men's soccer team post a 13-6-1 record in 2025 including a 6-1-1 conference mark as the Bears' captured both the MASCAC regular season and tournament titles. The Bears advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second time in the last three years and eighth time in program history.
