BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University senior midfielder Kessy Alves has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) GEICO Men's Soccer Player of the Week. GEICO is the proud sponsor of the MASCAC weekly awards program.
The Most Valuable Player of the 2018 MASCAC Tournament, Alves netted his first collegiate hat trick and provided the game-winning tally in the Bears' 5-3 championship game victory over top-seeded Framingham State this past weekend.
With the win, the Bears (11-7-1) advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the sixth time in program history and first since 2015.
In 18 games this season, Alves has a career-best nine goals and nine assists for 27 points. Two of his nine goals have been game-winners.
Alves is currently tied for second in the MASCAC in assists and ranks third in both goals and scoring. He is also tied for fifth among the conference leaders in game-winning goals.
In 36 games over two seasons at Bridgewater State, Alves has amassed 13 goals and 11 assists for 37 career points.
