Four Bears Named NFHCA Scholars of Distinction

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University seniors Irianny Solorin and Emelia Westwater; and sophomores Kallie Rose and Samantha Souza have each been named 2025 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Scholars of Distinction.

Solorin, Westwater, Rose and Souza are among 543 student-athletes from across the Division III landscape to earn the honor, including nine from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC).

The NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2025-2026 academic year.

Solorin, a Methuen, Massachusetts resident, is a biology (Biomedical) major with a remarkable 3.948 GPA. She also has a minor in theatre arts.

An Attleboro, Massachusetts product, Westwater checks in with a superb 3.991 GPA and is majoring in elementary education and childhood studies.

Rose, who hails from Dartmouth, Massachusetts, is currently sporting an impressive 3.924 GPA as she is majoring in physical education with a teacher licensure.

Souza, who also calls Dartmouth, Massachusetts home, sports a 3.974 GPA as she is majoring in pre-occupational therapy.

Earlier this week, Solorin, Westwater, Rose and Souza were among 11 Bears named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad.
