BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior kicker Joey Naso has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Football Special Teams Player of the Week.
Naso converted a pair of field goals from 40 and 27 yards, and went 4-for-5 on PATs in the Bears’ 46-40 MASCAC overtime setback to Framingham State. The Hopewell Junction, New York native aso averaged 25.8 yards on six punts with one inside the 20 and four fair catches, and made a solo tackle.
Throught four games this season, Naso is 14-for-15 (93%) in extra point attempts and 4-for-5 in field goal attempts. He leads all MASCAC kickers in scoring (26 pts.) and made field goals and ranks third in made extra points.
In 32 games over four seasons with the Bears, Naso has converted 114 of 120 point after touchdowsn (95%) as he is the Bears' all-time leader in PATs. Naso has also connected on 10 of 14 field goal attempts (71.4%) and is 21st on the Bears' all-time scoring list with 144 career points.
The MASCAC Special Teams Player of the Week honor marks the third of Naso's career.
The BSU football team is currently 1-3 on the season and 1-2 in the MASCAC. The Bears travel to Worcester State University on Saturday afternoon for a 1:30 conference game with the Lancers.
